Lubricating grease

Lubricating grease is a thick grease-like semi-solid. Used for the friction part of machinery, lubrication and sealing. Also used on metal surfaces to fill gaps and prevent rust. It is mainly composed of mineral oil (or synthetic lubricating oil) and thickening agent.

According to the thickeners, they can be divided into two types: soap-based lipids and non-soap-based lipids. Metal soaps such as lithium, sodium, calcium, aluminum and zinc are commonly used as thickeners of soap-based lipids, and metal soaps such as potassium, barium, lead and manganese are also used. Graphite, carbon black and asbestos are used as thickeners of non-soap base grease, which can be divided into general grease and special grease according to their USES. The former is used for general mechanical parts, while the latter is used for tractors, railway locomotives, Marine machinery, oil drilling machinery and valves.

The main quality indicators are drop point, penetration, ash content and moisture content. The indexes used to evaluate the colloid stability of grease are oil separation test, rolling bearing performance test, etc. The roller test is a test method to test the consistency change under rolling action. Fluidity test is a test method for evaluating the pumpability of grease at low temperature.

Test method for evaluating the resistance of grease to water leaching. Colloidal stability is the property of a grease to keep colloidal stability in storage and use and that liquid mineral oil does not separate out from the grease. Mechanical stability is the resistance of a grease to changes in consistency under mechanical conditions. The torque test of ball bearing is a test method to evaluate the low temperature performance of grease.

A grease is a stable solid or semi-solid product consisting of a thickening agent dispersed in a liquid lubricant, in which additives and fillers designed to improve certain properties of the grease may be added. Lubricating grease can adhere to vertical surface without loss at room temperature, and can work in open or poorly sealed friction parts, with other lubricants can not be replaced by the holding point.

Therefore, in many parts of the automobile and construction machinery are used as lubricating grease lubrication materials, that we often say machine butter!
