What is Lubrication system

Lubricating system is the general term for a series of grease feeding, grease discharging and auxiliary devices that supply lubricant to lubricating parts. Lubrication system can be generally divided into five kinds, that is, cycle lubrication system, centralized lubrication system, spray lubrication system, immersion and splash lubrication system, oil and grease of the full loss lubrication system.

The design of lubrication system should be based on the characteristics of various mechanical equipment and conditions of use, it is generally composed of several main components, such as: hydraulic pump, oil tank, filter, cooling device, heating device, sealing device, buffer device, safety device, alarm, etc..

The function of the lubrication system is to transport a certain amount of clean lubricating oil to the surface of relative moving parts, so as to realize liquid friction, reduce friction resistance and reduce wear of the parts. And parts surface cleaning and cooling. The lubricating system is usually made up of a lubricating passage, an oil pump, an oil filter, and some valves.

In general, the lubrication system of mechanical equipment shall meet the following requirements:

1. Ensure uniform and continuous supply of lubricants with a certain pressure to each lubrication point, sufficient oil, and can be adjusted as required.

2. High working reliability. Effective sealing and filtering devices are adopted to keep lubricants clean, prevent dust and moisture from the external environment from entering the system, and prevent environmental pollution due to leakage.

3. Simple structure, as standardized as possible, convenient for maintenance and high-speed adjustment, convenient for inspection and replacement of lubricants, low initial investment and maintenance costs.

4. With working parameter indication, alarm protection and working condition monitoring device, it can timely find lubrication failure.

5. When the lubricating system needs to ensure the proper working temperature of lubricant, the cooling and preheating devices and heat exchangers can be installed.

When designing the lubrication system, three lubrication elements must be considered, namely:

1. The type of friction pair (such as bearing, gear, guide rail and other supporting elements) and its operating conditions (such as speed, load, temperature and oil film formation mechanism, etc.);

2. Types of lubricants (e.g. lubricants, grease or solid, gas lubricants) and their properties;

3. Types of lubrication methods and oil supply conditions, etc.
